HORROR INDIE GAMES
List of Horror Indie Games in no specific order. ∇ READ PLEASE! IMPORTANT INFORMATION! ∇ (Most of them, almost all, are from GameJolt.com, so all credit goes to them, and some were taken from Bloody-Disgusting.com I've included the gameplay of the ones I took from Bloody-Disgusting's website ALL credit goes to them! I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THESE GAMES NOR DO I OWN THE POSTS, GAMEPLAYS AND RESPECTIVE WEBSITES! I made this list for "fun" and as my big dream of having a website specialized in games [mostly indie] to show the world that they are worth something and that there are great games besides the more known ones from big companies.) 1. left alone"Left alone is a psychological, survival horror game with rich, creative, believable interior and exterior environments. A unique, high octane atmosphere means you'll feel like you're truly beginning an adventure you'll never quite forget." LINK: LEFT ALONE 2. Dungeon Nightmares II"Every night you fall asleep, you find yourself in an endless nightmare that you must escape from. You wake up screaming, still seeing the horrors you just witnessed as you lay there in your bed. These are just nightmares and cannot be real, you tell yourself. As you lay back down in bed, you breath out slowly and wipe the sweat from your face. And then you see it. Her name sliced into your hands, Mary." LINK: DUNGEON NIGHTMARES II 3. PERCEPTION"This is Perception from The Deep End Games, and it is about a blind woman named Cassie and her journey through a haunted house. The lady's pretty dang brave to go in since she's blind (I wouldn't go in and I can see just fine), but she is able to use a form of echolocation to look around the creepy environments. Through her own footsteps or by tapping her cane, she can get a sense of what's around her, letting her temporarily 'see' for short bursts. Other things will help shape the environment, with wind, rattling pipes, clock bells, and dripping water all helping guide her as she searches for the answers as to what horrible things happened in this house." THIS GAME IS NOT YET DEVELOPED! IT'S STILL ON KICKSTARTER! LINK: PERCEPTION 4. Alone in space"You awaken next to a pipe with a smear of blood on it. You turn on your flashlight and feel your head, expecting to get hot and sticky blood on your fingers. Your head is fine. That's just not your blood. Alone in Space is a horror/exploration type game." LINK: ALONE IN SPACE 5. Lurking"Lurking is a survival thriller game where sound is the only way you see, and they hear your fears." LINK: LURKING 6. stairs"You play as a washed up journalist, looking for his next big scoop. Three people have gone missing recently, in an abandoned factory, and you're going to find out what happened to them. Stairs takes a lot of it's inspiration from real events. The build you can play here for instance, has taken a lot of it's inspiration from Dr. Mengele and his... work... during the second world war. We are currently developing this into a full game, where we'll add several more levels, with even more disturbing stories and scary events." LINK: STAIRS Review: STAIRS 7. life after us“I was cautious in what I said before the young lady; for I could not be sure that she was sane" Life After Us is a series of short horror games based in a universe inspired by the stories of Edgar Allan Poe and HP Lovecraft. The System, the second in the series sees you tasked with locating a young woman who suffers from a mental illness. She is believed to have returned to Hawthorn Sanitarium where she was once a patient. It is here your search begins. LINK: LIFE AFTER US 8. within deep sorrows"A monsterious demon haunts you throughout your nightmares, as it gradually makes its way into the real world. The only way to prevent this from happening is for you (Johnston Barker) to destroy your diary, which is hidden within your third dream. Each decending dream makes it harder to avoid the demon, allowing it to become stronger, and more agressive. The time period is set in the 1990's, though when dreaming, it is set back in the 1950's. You are not alone however, as your conscious speaks to you during the process, giving you guidance as you deeply wonder within your nightmares." LINK: WITHIN DEEP SORROWS 9. black rose"Black Rose is a first-person survival horror game in which you assume the role of Linda, an average girl who heard rumors about an old abandoned funeral home being haunted. No one knows what happened to many of the people who used to work there, but legend says they were murdered. By who? Linda wants to find this out for herself, so she goes to the secluded funeral home. But not long after entering, things go horribly wrong." LINK: BLACK ROSE 10. no escapeThese rooms, these halls.. Where am I? What happened here? No Escape is an indie first person horror game. It's a mix of Amnesia, Slender and The Stanley Parable. It features procedurally generated levels, dynamic events, a strong narrative and psychological horror. No Escape is still under development but an alpha build is currently available. No Escape is a vision of a horror game that features classic psychological event-driven horror but appeals to a wide demographic. Like the FPS Horror greats it strives to have creepy and scary events that will make your skin crawl. At the same time, it features user friendly interactions, short levels and compelling gameplay to appeal to non-horror gamers. Because of it's short levels we push replay-ability through procedurally generated levels and intelligent dynamic events. Eventually we'd like to also incorporate branching choices, mutually exclusive areas and player responsive endings to encourage replay-ability. LINK: NO ESCAPE 11. Unknown"You are a security guy who works at a school at night. Your work is simply easy because you live in a safe area and no crimes have ever been made around there. Every night, you have to go and close the door of a class which is blown by the wind gone in through the windows. The windows are really bad but the school does not want to fix it. But gradually, you realize that your work is not simple as you think. You have to take care of "something"." LINK: UNKNOWN 12. insanity (INSANIDADE)"Remember when I said Paranormal was the scariest game I’ve played this year? I meant it. It’s a great, unpredictable horror game, but unfortunately, it has been dethroned. Not only is Insanity scarier — to me — than Paranormal, it’s now officially the scariest indie horror game I’ve ever played. I haven’t been so nervous playing a horror game since my first stab at Amnesia back in 2010. The fact that this little gem, which reminds me of the early Silent Hill games, was crafted by such a small team makes its ability to instill terror so deeply into my bones all the more impressive. Watch me lose my mind after the break." - BloodyDisgusting LINK: INSANIDADE 13. Eyes: The Horror Game"The objective is simple and probably a little familiar to anyone who’s played Slender: The Eight Pages. You run about a dark environment, alone and unarmed, collecting items (money bags), as you’re chased through the labyrinthine locale. This game brings with it a pretty nifty feature that’s reminiscent of the survival horror classic Siren, which gives you the ability to see through the eyes of the thing that’s hunting you. This ability has a limited use, it’ll require you to replenish your reserve by collecting the eye decals that have been strewn about the game’s world." - Bloody Disgusting LINK: EYES THE HORROR GAME 14. one late night"One Late Night is an unusual indie horror game that brings with it elements of Paranormal, mostly in the form of creepy (scripted) hauntings, and the omnipresent feeling that you’re never really alone. There’s a lot to like about this game. For starters, it’s a quality title. Small in scale, but everything it does it does pretty well. Its solid in the visuals department and there’s an impressive number of genuine scares crammed into it. The story follows a graphic designer, played by you, who wakes up in his office late at night. He talks a bit to himself every now and then — as we all do when we’re alone, right? — so it’s not a game that’s entirely void of any dialogue. And when things start to get too wild, you can always hide under a desk until it blows over." - Bloody Disgusting LINK: ONE LATE NIGHT 15. PESADELO"If you’d really like to get your heart racing, Pesadelo will get the deed done. Between its numerous jump scares, a few of which you can see me enduring in the above video, and the fact that you’re being timed, this is one of the more consistently intense horror games I’ve played. Honestly, I’m not a fan of time limits in video games. This one isn’t entirely timed, only the first bit does that. It’s been my experience that timers in video games can suck the fun right out of them. This wasn’t the case for Pesadelo, because I didn’t last long enough for the timer to ever be a problem." - Bloody Disgusting LINK: PESADELO 16. 7days"7Days is an experience rather than a game. It’s divided in seven days, each with its own meaning. You must find out what is going on in the strange house where you just woke up." LINK: 7DAYS 17. tainted"ONLY MULTIPLAYER Use WASD to move and E to interact. To play this game, You must host your World or enter inside another one. You can't play this game in single player. This game is NOT MEANT to be played with TeamSpeak or other chat/vocal chat systems. We at GoosEntertainment hope to see You dead soon * created in 72h for the Ludum Dare 30 #LD30*" LINK: TAINTED 18. HAUNTED MEMORIES"I love what Haunted Memories did to Slender Man. Gone is the lanky stick figure of a man seen in The Eight Pages and The Arrival. That dapper man has been replaced by an infinitely more terrifying Slender Man, complete with ethereal aura and ghostly black tendrils. Also, he can totally fly now. Unfortunately, the actual gameplay revolves around you running about a massive open environment collecting pages. That… isn’t terribly original. Even still, it’s a gorgeous game with an environment that’s significantly more interesting and varied than what we saw in The Eight Pages." - Bloody Disgusting LINK: HAUNTED MEMORIES |
